We just purchased a home in Ottawa and have upgraded everything in our laundry room including the flooring, which is now a mosaic limestone pattern. Seeing as the laundry room is one of the most used rooms in the house and spills and the like tend to occur, is there anything that can be done to ensure cleanliness of the flooring? Any general maintenance tips?

You want to pick up any spills as soon as they happen
because limestone is a very porous material and the last thing you want is
staining due to detergents and fabric softeners. Make sure that your limestone is very well
sealed, and do this regularly. Don’t use
commercial floor cleansers or anything acidic because you’ll etch your limestone. And especially NO water and vinegar; best use
warm water and a mild detergent and then a proper natural stone cleanser once a
week. We, at Interstone Marble and
Granite, sell and recommend Fila brand cleansers and sealers. We carry a large selection of their products.
