What is the average life expectancy of granite counter tops?

What is the average life expectancy of a granite counter top? Is it true that though granite is a durable material, the corners can chip away easily? Is there anything I can do to preserve and protect the beauty of the natural stone?

Granite countertops can last for many years if it is well up-kept. You need to seal it every year or so (it’s easy) to protect it; and you need to clean it gently daily (warm water and a mild detergent). Once a week use a proper natural stone cleaner. We recommend our Fila Neutral Cleanser. It works like a charm and there’s no rinsing needed. Never leave anything acidic on your counter because the acidity will etch and dull your stone. The corners shouldn’t really chip away with normal wear and tear but just to be sure, don’t be excessively rough with your stone.
