The more common stone finishes available are polished, honed and leathered. Polished is the most common finish, while honed and leathered are starting to gain consumer interest.
Polished = high gloss
Honed = matte and satin smooth
Leathered = matte finish with texture
Leathering AKA antiquing is done with chemical solutions and brushes that remove some of the weaker topical stone structures, leaving the stronger ones fairly intact, thus leaving behind a textured matte stone.
