Granite and Marble Slabs in the GTA

We’re redoing the house we just bought and putting in a galley kitchen. Should we go with an engineered stone countertop, or should we consider spending a bit more for marble and granite slab? Does anyone in the GTA have advice for us?

I recently renovated my kitchen, and I went for a galley kitchen because I like the streamlined look of them. At first, I thought I wanted stainless steel countertops, but then I tried one out at a friend’s house, and weirdly, I hated the sound it made when I was working on it! They’re actually super-noisy.

So next I looked into stone. I really fell in love with a natural stone slab at Interstone Marble and Granite. By the way, it is a myth that marble costs more than granite; because there are inexpensive marbles as well as some high-priced ones. The same goes for granite. Furthermore, engineered stone (Quartz) can actually cost more per square foot than many natural stones.

People may tell you that resealing stone countertops is a big deal, but honestly, it takes about an hour once a year. Also, keeping it clean is easy; I usually just use a damp sponge with warm water and a mild detergent daily; then, once per week use proper granite cleaner. Never use anything acidic to clean your natural stone and pick up any spills as they happen to protect your investment. Enjoy your new kitchen!
